Will The Red Sox Sell?

Boston has been in a free fall for the bast two weeks. After a rough start the Sox bounced back and went on a run but that now seems like fools gold as they approach the deadline. Let’s take a look at where they could go from here.

It wasn’t too long ago that Red Sox fans were riding high and ready to take a shot at over taking the Yankees for the AL East title. They have legit stars in Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers. J.D. Martinez is a bit past his prime but still a formidable bat and they have enough pitching talent to stay competitive. A strong push could easily deposit this team right in the wildcard picture. They need to add a first basemen and some bullpen help, an outfielder wouldn’t hurt either. These pieces are easy enough to add if Chaim Bloom is willing to go against his tendencies and add pieces.

Team Sell

Every pop up that gets dropped and ground ball that gets misfielded makes this outcome more and more likely. They have some expiring veteran talent that could fetch some decent prospect packages if they desire. The aforementioned Martinez and Bogaerts could be on the move along with starter Nathan Eovaldi. With the fact they signed Trevor Story ahead of needing to extend Bogaerts the writing may be on the wall that Xander won’t be returning. Chaim Bloom is a Tampa Bay Rays prodigy and we know how the Rays like to sell off pieces to recoup prospects and find value in the margins on their roster.

The next week will be a transformative one for Boston Red Sox. We will see what direction they will take for the rest of Bloom’s tenure. Stay tuned for all trade deadline coverage.
