The NHL All-Star Game is always an exciting event for fans, but this year it was made even more special with a special moment between two of the NHL’s biggest legends, Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. The two players signed a jersey during the All-Star Skills Competition Challenge, and the jersey ended up in the hands of P.K. Subban.

Subban held onto the jersey all night because nobody told him what to do with it… This was what he said:
“Nobody comes to me to take the jersey. So I’m thinking like, is this my jersey? Do I get to keep this? But I’m like, I don’t want to put this thing down. I’m not letting Ovi’s and Crosby’s Eastern Conference jersey float around the arena. So literally for the rest of the show, I’m holding it. And they’re like, PK, we need you at center ice. They’re like ‘give me the jersey’ I’m like ‘I can’t give you the jersey’ then I got a text from Sid the other night and he goes ‘Hey I don’t know if Ovi wants that jersey, but I would like to have it’, so I brought it to Sid.. Now Sid owes me one, he owes me a jersey.”
Crosby and Ovechkin have been career rivals for years, but their friendship and mutual respect for each other is well known. During the All-Star break, Ovechkin even talked about how he and Crosby would have a couple of beers together after they retire from the NHL.
This moment at the All-Star Game is a testament to the friendship and camaraderie that can exist even between fierce competitors. The NHL is filled with talented players, but it’s moments like these that make the sport so special. Fans will always remember the friendship and respect between Ovechkin and Crosby, and the signed jersey that brought them together at the All-Star Game. The two have been rivals their entire careers for the Penguins and Capitals respectfully, Ovi even said their relationship was not good early on, but as they years have gone by they have become good friends.
