Phil Kessel played in his 989th straight game last night, tying the NHL Ironman record which was set by Keith Yandle not too long ago. A special night for Phil, which was later ruined by the Maple Leafs.

PHIL KESSEL'S 400TH CAREER GOAL! pic.twitter.com/Eu6qRXUmx4
Or so we thought it was his 400th career goal. The Maple Leafs decided to challenge the play for offsides, and eventually the goal was ruled out.
The Maple Leafs went on to lose 3-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights anyways, so that challenge didn’t matter much in the end anyways.
Phil now will have a chance to score his 400th career goal in his 990th consecutive game, which will break the NHL ironman record.
