The Anaheim Ducks earned their second regulation win of the season on Thursday night, defeating the Montreal Canadiens 5-2. The Ducks got two goals from John Klingberg and one each from Terry, Henrique, and Vatrano to secure the victory.
The Ducks outshot the Canadiens 32 to 25 in the game, with goaltender Lukas Dostal making 23 saves to earn the win. The Ducks’ defense was solid throughout the game, limiting the Canadiens’ scoring chances and forcing them to work for their goals allowing only 25 shots on goal while having 32 themselves.
Despite the victory, the Ducks still have a long way to go this season. They are currently have a -57 in goal difference and have the highest goals against in the league with 132 goals against. The Ducks do have 6 overtime/shootout wins but look to be in full tank mode for this stacked upcoming draft in 2023 with the likes of Bedad, Fantilli, and Michkov up for grabs in the top 3.
The Ducks currently have a 8-20-3 record, sitting second to last in the league only ahead of the Blackhawks who have one less point(18) but the Ducks have played three more games.
The Ducks will look to build on this victory when they take on the Edmonton Oilers in 2 days. It will be a tough test for Anaheim, but they hope to be able to improve their game and continue to develop their young core of players.
