Croatian right-back Sime Vrsaljko has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31. His decision came as a shock to many, but it provides an opportunity to look back on the incredible career of a player who made a significant impact on both club and international stages.
Vrsaljko’s journey began in the youth ranks of Dinamo Zagreb, where he made his debut at the age of 17. He quickly established himself as a promising talent and played a crucial role in helping the team win multiple league titles and domestic cups during his time there.
In 2013, Vrsaljko made the bold decision to move to Europe, signing with Italian club Genoa. Though he initially faced challenges adapting to a new environment, his determination and skill saw him enjoy successful stints at Sassuolo and later, Atlético Madrid.
