Carolina Hurricanes' head coach Rod Brind'Amour sets a new franchise record for the most playoff wins, surpassing former coach Paul Maurice's record and showcasing his leadership skills.

Following the Carolina Hurricanes’ 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders in Game 2 of the first round of the 2023 NHL playoffs, head coach Rod Brind’Amour has achieved a significant milestone. With his 26th playoff win, Brind’Amour now holds the franchise record for the most wins by a Hurricanes coach in the playoffs, surpassing the previous record held by Paul Maurice.

Paul Maurice, who coached the Hurricanes from 1996-2012, led the team to numerous playoff appearances during his tenure. However, it’s Brind’Amour who now holds the record for most playoff wins as a coach for the franchise, an impressive feat considering he has only been in the position since 2019.

In addition to his 26 playoff wins, Brind’Amour has coached the Hurricanes in 370 regular-season games, winning 226 of them. As the Hurricanes continue their playoff run, fans and players alike can take pride in the leadership provided by Brind’Amour. His coaching expertise and experience as a former player give the team a competitive edge, making them a formidable opponent in the NHL postseason.

The Hurricanes face a tough battle with injury, recently losing Teravainen to a broken hand suffered in game 2, along with other injuries to Pacioretty and Svechnikov.
