The hockey world, including long-time rivals, has come together to celebrate Ovechkin’s incredible accomplishment.

Alex Ovechkin has reached 822 career goals, surpassing the legendary Gordie Howe who had 801 goals, and moving closer to Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals. This achievement highlights Ovechkin’s remarkable career and solidifies his place among the greatest, if not THE greatest, goal scorers in NHL history.

Despite the heated rivalry between the two teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to Ovechkin. This display of sportsmanship emphasizes the respect Ovechkin has garnered from his peers and the hockey community as a whole.

Penguins star player Evgeni Malkin hosted a dinner at his house for Ovechkin and other Russian teammates. Malkin, Ovechkin, and others have played together on the Russian national team, demonstrating that bonds formed can transcend even the fiercest NHL rivalries.

As Ovechkin continues to chase Wayne Gretzky’s record, the hockey world will undoubtedly continue to celebrate and admire his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Let’s not forget Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby are best buds as well.
