In Tuesday nights match up between the New York Rangers and the Colorado Avalanche, Rangers forward Alexis Lafreniere was called for a high sticking penalty. Cale Makar took a stick to the face, but it was not Lafreniere’s stick, it was Makar’s teammate Devon Toews who had hit him in the face. Alexis Lafreniere was given a two minute penalty for Devon Toews’ stick hitting Cale Makar in the face. The call was not reviewable, which gave the Avalanche a powerplay despite Lafreniere doing nothing wrong.
