Day 1 of free agency is always a crazy one, and it’s been nothing short of exiting so far. From contract extensions, to trades, to new signs, we will report on it all here!

Josh Manson

Josh Manson was a UFA going into the free agent market, but has found a deal with the Avalanche to stay in Colorado. He signed a 4 year, $4.5M AAV deal. The Avalanche traded for Josh Manson on deadline day, sending Drew Helleson and a 2023 second round pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for him.

Haula and Zacha traded

The Boston Bruins and the New Jersey Devils have made a 1 for 1 trade. Erik Haula was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Pavel Zacha. Haula had 44 points in 78 games this season for the Bruins. Pavel Zacha had 36 points in 70 games for the Devils.

Claude Giroux

Claude Giroux is reportedly signed with the Ottawa Senators. This was reported by Bob McKenzie, but has not been made official by the Senators yet. Giroux had 65 points in 75 games playing for the Florida Panthers and the Philadelphia Flyers last season. UPDATE: Giroux has officially signed! Three year deal, $6.5M AAV! Giroux spoke on TSN: “I wouldn’t sign here if I didn’t think we had a chance to win a Cup.”

Jack Campbell

Jack Campbell has moved from one Canadian team to another, he is signing with the Edmonton Oilers. Campbell signs a 5 year deal with a $5M AAV. Campbell started 47 games for the Maple Leafs last season, winning 31 of them. He had a GAA of 2.64 and a SV% of .914 with 5 shutouts.

Evander Kane

Evander Kane stays in Edmonton! He signed a 4 year deal worth $5.125M AAV to stay with the Oilers. Kane had 39 points in 43 regular season games this season, but was specifically good in the playoffs where he had 13 goals and 4 assists for a total of 17 points in 15 playoff games. If he can stay out of trouble off the ice this is a great signing for the Oilers.

Ilya Samsonov

Samsonov is signing a one year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. $1.8M contract, the Leafs second goaltender pick up after trading for Matt Murray a day or two ago. Samsonov had 23 wins in 39 starts with the Capitals last season, putting up a 3.02 GGA and a .896 SV%.

Curtis Lazar

Lazar has signed a 3 year deal worth $1M AAV with the Vancouver Canucks. Lazar had 16 points in 70 Games last season with the Bruins.

Kevin Rooney

Calgary Flames have signed Kevin Rooney to a two year, $1.3M AAV Deal. Rooney had 12 points in 61 games with the Rangers last season.

Victor Olofsson

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed forward Victor Olofsson to a two year, $4.75M AAV deal. Olofsson had 49 points in 72 games with the Sabres last season, the player is going into his 5th NHL season and has 127 points in 188 games.

Ian Cole

Ian Cole has signed a one year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning with $3M. Ian Cole had 19 points in 75 games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season. Ian Cole won the Stanley cup in 2016 and 2017 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Robert Thomas

Robert Thomas has signed a MONSTER Extension with the St. Louis Blues. 8 year deal with a AAV of $8.125M. The 23 year old center had 77 points in 72 games this season, but only had 6 points in 12 playoff games. Thomas won the Stanley Cup with the Blues 2019.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel

Aube-Kubel has signed a 1 year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs! The Deal is worth $1M. Aube-Kubel won the Stanley Cup this 2021-2022 NHL season with the Colorado Avalanche. He had 23 points in 74 regular season games, but had 0 points in 14 playoff games.

Andrew Copp

Andrew Copp has been picked up by the Detroit Red Wings! He has signed a 5 year deal with a $5.625M AAV. Copp had 53 points in 72 regular season games this year with the New York Rangers and the Winnipeg Jets. Copp also put up 14 points in 20 playoff games with the Rangers, helping them reach the Eastern Conference finals.

Vincent Trocheck

Vincent Trocheck has signed a huge deal with the New York Rangers! A seven year deal worth $5.6M AAV. Trocheck had 51 points in 81 regular season games with the Hurricanes last season, he also put up 10 points in 14 playoff games.

Troy Stecher

Troy Stecher is heading to Arizona! He signs a 1 year deal with $1.25M. Stecher, a 28 year old defenseman, spent last season on the Detroit Red Wings and on the LA Kings. He played in 29 games and put up 3 points.

Nick Leddy

Nick Leddy is re-signing with St. Louis! The 31 year old defenseman signed a 4 year, $4M AAV deal with the Blues. Leddy spent last season playing for the Detroit Red Wings and the St. Louis Blues, putting up 24 points in 75 games.

Ilya Lyubushkin

Lyubushkin is signing with the Buffalo Sabres!  Lyubushkin, a 28 year old defenseman, signed a 2 year, $2.8M AAV deal with the Sabres. He spent last season playing on the Arizona Coyotes and the Toronto Maple Leafs, putting up 15 points in 77 games, and racking up 51 PIMS.

Eric Comrie

27 year old goaltender Eric Comrie is also heading the Sabres! Comrie played 19 games last season with the Winnipeg Jets, winning 10 in 16 starts with a 2.58 GAA and a .920 SV%. He has only played in 28 games so far in his NHL career. He signed a 2 year deal worth $1.8M AAV.

Ilya Mikheyev

Mikheyev is heading to Vancouver! The 27 year old winger has signed a 4 year deal with a AAV of $4.75M. Mikheyev spent last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, putting up 32 points in 53 regular season games. He put up 4 points in 7 playoff games as well.

Colin White

Colin White has signed a one year deal with the Florida Panthers worth $1.2M. White spent the 2021-2022 season with the Ottawa Senators. The 25 year old center put up 10 points in 24 games.

Jaroslav Halak

Halak has signed a one year deal worth $1.55M with the New York Rangers according to Darren Dreger. The 37 year old goaltender started only 14 games for the Canucks last season, winning 4 with a GAA of 2.94 and a SV% of .903.

Frank Vatrano

Vatrano is heading to Anaheim! The 28 year old center has signed a 3 year deal with the Ducks with an AAV of $3.65M. He spent last season playing for the New York Rangers and the Florida Panthers, where he put up 32 points in 71 games. He had an impressive 13 points in 20 playoff games in the 2021-2022 playoffs.

Vlad Namestnikov

Vlad Namestnikov is heading to Tampa Bay! The 29 year old center has signed a 1 year deal worth $2.5M according to Joe Smith. He put up 30 points in 75 games last season, and had 2 points in 7 playoff games with the Dallas Stars.

Adam Gaudette

Gaudette is heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs! Gaudette is signed on a one year deal worth $750,000. The 25 year old center had 14 points in 58 games last season with the Ottawa Senators.

Mikhail Sergachev 

Mikhail Sergachev signed a HUGE extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning! The 24 year old defenseman has signed an 8 year deal with a $8.5M AAV. Sergachev had 38 points in 78 regular season games last season, he also put up 10 points in 23 playoff games in the Lightning’s run to the cup. Sergachev has been with the Lightning since 2017, and played a solid role in their back to back Stanley Cup victories.

Brett Kulak

Kulak has re-signed with the Edmonton Oilers! The 28 year old defenseman signed a 4 year deal worth $2.75M AAV according to Elliotte Friedman. Kulak had 21 points and 45 PIMS in 74 games played last season between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.

Anthony Cirelli

The Tampa Bay Lightning make another huge signing by keeping 24 year old center Anthony Cirelli. Cirelli has signed an 8 year deal with an AAV of $6.25M. He put up 43 points in 76 regular season games this season, then put up another 8 points in 23 playoff games.

Olli Maatta

Maatta has signed a 1 year deal worth $2.25M with the Detroit Red Wings. The 28 year old defensemen had 8 points and was a +17 in 66 games last season with the LA Kings. He has won two Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Erik Cernak

ANOTHER Tampa Bay extension! The Lightning have signed 25 year old defenseman to a 8 year deal with an AAV of $5.2M. Cernak had 13 points and 46 PIMs in 55 regular season games this season, and had 2 points in 23 playoff games. he has been with the Bolts since 2018, helping them win 2 Stanley Cups.

Brendan Lemieux

Lemieux is staying with the LA Kings! He has signed a 1 year deal worth $1.35M. The 26 year old winger had 13 points and 97 PIMS in 50 games last season.

Justin Schultz

Schultz has signed a 2 year deal with the Seattle Kraken with a $3M AAV! The 32 year old defenseman played 74 games last season with the Washington Capitals, putting up 23 points. Schultz won the Stanley Cup twice with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

Darcy Kuemper

The Stanley Cup winning goaltender is moving on from the Avalanche, he has signed a 5 year deal with the Washington Capitals! The deal has an AAV of $5.25M. Kuemper, 32, played in 57 regular season games this season, winning 37 of them with a GAA of 2.54 and a SV% of .921. He started in 16 playoff games this season, putting up a GAA of 2.57 and a SV% of .902.

Brent Burns

Brent Burns is heading to the Carolina Hurricanes! The San Jose Sharks will retain 33% of his Salary. The Sharks also sent Lane Pederson to the Hurricanes in the Deal. The Hurricanes sent the Sharks Steven Lorentz, Eetu Makiniemi, and a third round pick. Burns had 54 points in 82 regular season games with the Sharks this season. The 37 year old defenseman has 3 more years on his contract.

Thomas Greiss

Greiss signs a 1 year deal worth $1.3M with the St. Louis Blues. The 38 year old goalie will be a back up, signed to replace Husso.

Max Domi

Max Domi has signed a one year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks! Domi signed a one year deal worth $3M. The 27 year old center had 39 points in 72 games with the Hurricanes and the Blue Jackets last season.

Andreas Athanasiou

Andreas Athanasiou also signed a one year, $3M deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. The 27 year old forward played 28 games with the LA Kings this season, putting up 17 points.

Nick Bjugstad

Nick Bjugstad is heading to the Coyotes. He has signed a 1 year deal worth 900k. The 29 year old forward had 13 points in 57 games with the Minnesota Wild last season.

Dakota Jashua

Carlie Lindgren

Lindgren, a 28 year old goalie, is heading to the Capitals. He signed a 3 year deal with an AAV of $1.1M. He has only played 29 games in his career, winning 15 of them with a GAA of 2.74 and a SV% of .913.

Mason Marchment

The 27 year old winger is heading to the Dallas Stars! he signs a 4 year deal with an AAV of $4.5M. Marchment had 47 points in 54 regular season games with the Florida Panthers this season, and picked up 1 point in 4 playoff games. He was close to signing with the Hurricanes as well according to reports.

Patrick Nemeth

Nemeth has been traded to the Arizona Coyotes. The 30 year old defenseman had 7 points in 63 games.

Noel Acciari

The St, Louis Blues make another addition to their roster by signing Noel Acciari. He signs a 1 year deal worth $1.25M. The 30 year old forward had 8 points in 20 games this season, and had 0 points in 9 playoff games.

Colin Blackwell

Colin Blackwell signs a two year deal with an AAV of $1.2M with the Chicago Blackhawks. The 29 year old forward played in 58 games this season, putting up 20 points. He played for the Seattle Kraken and the Toronto Maple Leads this past season.

Oskar Lindblom

Lindblom is heading to the San Jose Sharks according to Corey Masisak. The deal is with an AAV of $2.5M according to Pierre LeBrun, with no contract length mentioned yet. Lindblom, a 25 year old winger, put up 26 points in 79 games last season with the Flyers. UPDPATED: it is a 2 year deal with the Sharks.

Artturi Lehkonen

Artturi Lehkonen re-signs with the Colorado Avalanche! The 27 year old winger has signed a five year deal with a $4.5M AAV per Pierre LeBrun. Lehkonen put up 38 points in 74 regular season games, he also put up 14 points in 20 playoff games, and scored the Stanley Cup winning goal for the Avalanche.

Erik Gudbranson

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a signing! They sign 30 year old defenseman Erik Gudbranson to a 4 year deal with a AAV of $4M, per Elliotte Friedman. He put up 17 points in 78 games with the Calgary Flames last season, he also had 1 point in 12 playoff games.

Nic Deslauriers

Nic Deslauriers is heading to the Flyers. He signs a 4 year deal with an AAV of $1.9M. The 31 year old winger had 13 points and 113 PIMs in 81 games last season.

Nick Cousins

Nick Cousins is heading to Florida! He has signed a 2 year deal with an AAV of $1.1M. The 28 year old center had 22 points in 68 games with the Nashville Predators this past season.

Jan Rutta

Jan Rutta is heading to the Penguins! The 32 year old defenseman has signed a 3 year deal with an AAV of $2.75M. He had 18 points in 76 regular season games, he then had 5 points in 17 playoff games. Rutta has been on the Lightning since 2018, being a part of both cup runs with the Lightning.

Ben Chiarot

Chiarot is heading to the Detroit Red Wings! The 31 year old defenseman has signed a 4 year deal with an AAV of $4.75M. Chiarot spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens and the Florida Panthers, where he had 26 points in 74 regular season games. He had 1 point in 10 playoff games, and was a -1.

Andre Burakovsky

Andre Burakovsky has signed a deal with the Seattle Kraken! The 27 year old winger has signed a 5 year deal with an AAV of $5.5M. The forward had 61 points in 80 regular season games with the Avalanche this year. He helped them win the Stanley Cup, putting up 8 points in 12 games, unfortunately missing part of playoffs with an injury.

Marc Staal

Marc Staal is heading to the Florida Panthers on a 1 year deal worth $750k, per Bob McKenzie. The 35 year old defenseman played 71 games this past season, putting up 16 points.

Eric Staal

Eric Staal is also heading to the Florida Panthers! Eric is going on a professional tryout with the club. The 37 year old forward played for the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens this season, putting up 13 points in 53 games.

Shane Wright

The Seattle Kraken have signed their 4th overall pick Shane Wright to a three year, entry level deal!

David Rittich

Rittich signs a one year deal worth 900k with the Winnipeg Jets. He is a 30 year old goaltender who will likely be the back up in Winnipeg.

Dominik Kubalik

The Detroit Red Wings are back at it again. They sign Dominik Kubalik to a 2 year deal with an AAV of $2.5M. The 26 year old winger had 32 points in 78 games with the Chicago Blackhawks this past season.

Greg McKegg

The 30 year old forward is heading to the Edmonton Oilers. McKegg signed a 2 year deal with an AAV of 750K.

Louis Domingue

Domingue has signed a two year contract with the New York Rangers.

Brendan Smith

Brendan Smith is heading to the New Jersey Devils! The 33 year old defenseman signed a 2 year deal with an AAV of $1.1M. Smith spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played in 45 games and put up 8 points. A solid depth defenseman.

David Perron

The Detroit Red Wings are back in action again, this time they have signed David Perron. The 34 year old winger signs a two year deal with an AAV of 4.75M with the Red Wings. Perron played 67 games with the Blues this past season, and put up 57 points. He had an impressive playoffs, with 13 points in just 12 games.

Nic Petan

Darren Helm

Helm stays with the Avalanche! He signs a 1 year deal worth $1.25M. Helm had 5 points in 20 playoff games this season to help the Colorado Avalanche with the Stanley Cup.

Andrew Cogliano

Cogliano also stays with the Avalanche! He signs a 1 year deal worth $1.25M. Cogliano had 6 points in 16 playoff game as he helped the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup.

Justin Braun

Justin Braun is heading back to the Flyers! He signs a 1 year deal worth $1.75M. The 35 year old defenseman played 69 games and had 18 points. He spent last season playing for the the Flyers then the Rangers, but is now back in Philadelphia.

Trevor Lewis

Trevor Lewis stays with the Calgary Flames. The Flames re-sign Lewis to a one year contract with $800K. It is a one way contract for the 35 year old forward who had 16 points in 80 regular season games with the Flames this past season. He also had 5 points in 12 playoff games.

Colin Miller

Colin Miller is heading to the Dallas Stars. The 29 year old defenseman signed a 2 year deal with an AAV of $1.9M. Miller had 14 points in 38 regular season games with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2021-2022 season.

Vegas trade Pacioretty to Carolina

WE HAVE A TRADE! Max Pacioretty and Dylan Coghlan have been traded to the Carolina Hurricanes. The return is future considerations, Vegas had to make this trade to be cap compliant. Max Pacioretty is a 33 year old winger who has 1 year left on his $7M deal. Pacioretty had 37 points in 39 regular season games with the Golden Knights this year. Dylan Coghlan is a 24 year old defenseman who had 13 points in 59 games this season.

Connor Brown

Connor Brown has been traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Washington Capitals. The Capitals send a 2024 second round pick to the Senators in return. Connor Brown, a 28 year old winger, had 39 points in 64 games this past season with the Senators. He has 1 year left on his contract at a $3.6M cap hit.

Ondrej Kase

The Carolina Hurricanes stay busy, they sign 26 year old winger Ondrej Kase to a one year deal worth $1.5M. Kase spent the last season with the Maple Leafs, he put up 27 points in 50 regular season games. In the playoffs he had 3 points in 7 games.

Nico Sturm

Nico Sturm has been signed by the San Jose Sharks. Sturm, a 27 year old center, signs a three year deal with an AAV of $2M. Sturm had 20 points in 74 regular season games this year. He had 2 points in 13 playoff games with the Colorado Avalanche, who he just won the Stanley Cup with.

Martin Jones

The Seattle Kraken have signed 32 year old goaltender Martin Jones. Jones signs a 1 year deal with a value of $2M. Jones spent last season playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, where he played in 35 games, had 12 wins, a GAA of 3.42, and a Save % of .900.

Johnny Gaudreau

In a wild turn of even, Johnny Gaudreau is going to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He is signing a 7 year deal with an AAV of $9.8M according to Elliotte Friedman. Calgary offered him $10M AAV, he turned it down and is now on his was to the Blue Jackets. The 29 year old winger had 115 points in 82 regular season games this past season. He had 14 points in 12 playoff games as well.

Matt Benning

Matt Benning is heading to the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks sign Benning on a 4 year deal with an AAV of $1.25M. The 28 year old defenseman played in 65 regular season games with the Predators last season, putting up 11 points. He played 3 games in the playoff and had 1 point.

Haydn Fluery

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed 26 year old defenseman Haydn Fluery. He signs a 2 year deal with an AAV of 750K. He played 36 games with the Seattle Kraken last season, putting up 4 points.

Reilly Smith

The Vegas Golden Knights extend forward Reilly Smith with a 3 year, $5M AAV contract. The 31 year old forward had 38 points in 56 games with the Knights last season.

Ryan Strome

Ryan Strome is on his way to the Anaheim Ducks! The 29 year old forward signed a 5 year deal with a $5M AAV. He had 54 points in 74 games in the regular season with the New York Rangers. He had 9 points in 19 playoff games as well.

Ondrej Palat

Palat on is on the move! The 31 year old forward is signing with the New Jersey Devils. He signs a 5 year deal with an AAV of $6M. Palat had 49 points in 79 regular season games this past season. He had 21 points in 23 playoff games with the Lightning, he also played a big role in their back to back championships. The Devils were in on the Gaudreau sweepstakes, but after he signed with Columbus, Palat was the Devils second option.
