According to a report from Eric Engels, around 8-10 unnamed Montreal Canadiens players have signed up to learn the French language, likely in order to be able to better communicate with fans and media in Montreal.
Roughly 8-10 Montreal Canadiens are meeting with a French teacher today after expressing a desire to learn the language. A plan will be built based on their schedule after this initial meeting.

This shows a lot of dedication to the city, the team, and the fans from the players to the Canadiens organization. It is likely the younger batch of players on the Canadiens that are looking to learn the language, which may include first overall pick Slafkovsky. The Canadiens organization will be funding these lessons, and helping the players fit them into their schedules.
The ones who already have a basic grasp of the language are opting for some private tutoring. Should be noted the Habs are paying for this. Speaking with Johnathan Kovacevic, who did four years of French immersion, he said, “I think it’s really cool for the team to provide this.”
