The Minnesota Wild have made a significant addition to their roster, signing Minnesota Golden Gophers captain Brock Faber. The talented defenseman was recently named the Big 10’s Defensive Player of the Year, and his leadership and skill have been evident throughout his time at the University of Minnesota.
The 20-year-old Faber has spent the last two seasons playing for the Golden Gophers, where he has made considerable strides in his development. This season, he scored 4 goals and added 23 assists for a total of 27 points in 38 games, while also maintaining an impressive +29 rating. In the previous season, Faber recorded 2 goals and 12 assists, totaling 14 points in 32 games, and earning a +8 rating.
Faber is joining the Wild immediately, traveling to Chicago with the team to begin his NHL journey. Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 45th overall in the 2020 NHL draft, Faber was traded to the Wild in the summer as part of a deal that saw Kevin Fiala head to Los Angeles, with the Wild also receiving a first-round pick in return.
