While the Sabres put up a good fight, they ended up losing to the Canadiens in a shootout. Now with only 9 games to go in the season, the Sabres sit 5 points out of a playoff spot, trying to chase the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. They are also battling with the Florida Panthers, who currently sit 2 points ahead of the Sabres.

While the Sabres are unlikely to make playoffs, they have a very young team that is making very good developments for the future of the team and organization.
