Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau is on pace for the largest points decline in NHL history, a disappointing turn of events for the talented player. With only two games remaining this season, Huberdeau’s performance has been a far cry from his impressive showing last season with the Florida Panthers. To make matters worse, the Flames missed out on the playoffs following last night’s overtime loss to the Nashville Predators.

During the previous season, Huberdeau scored 30 goals and recorded 85 assists, amassing a total of 115 points in 80 games played. His outstanding performance led to a blockbuster trade over the summer, with Huberdeau and other pieces moving to Calgary in exchange for Tkachuk. However, Huberdeau has struggled to find his footing with the Flames.
In 78 games this season, Huberdeau has managed just 15 goals and 40 assists for a total of 55 points, a staggering 60-point drop from last season. This decline is not only disappointing for Huberdeau, but also for the Flames organization, which signed him to an eight-year deal with an AAV of $10.5 million after the trade.
As the Flames and Huberdeau look to regroup and refocus for next season, it will be essential for the forward to regain his previous form and live up to the expectations set by his lucrative contract. The Flames’ have some work to do in the summer, with many fans wanting Sutter to be fired as the coach of the organization.
