New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes has etched his name in the team’s record books, becoming the franchise’s all-time leader for most points in a season. At just 21 years old, Hughes surpassed Patrik Elias’ previous record of 96 points by registering his 97th point of the season in a game against the Buffalo Sabres. In 77 games played this season, the 2019 first overall pick has accumulated 43 goals and 54 assists.

Not only did Hughes break the franchise record, but he also ranks fifth in the league for most shots on goal. This remarkable achievement highlights the young forward’s impressive skill set and cements his place as a cornerstone player for the Devils.
The game against the Sabres was special for another reason, as it marked the NHL debut of Luke Hughes, Jack’s brother, who is also a member of the New Jersey Devils. Although Luke didn’t have an ideal start, finishing with a -1 rating in a 6-2 victory, he is a highly talented defenseman expected to make a significant impact as he adjusts to the NHL level.
