The Pittsburgh Penguins placed Radim Zohorna on waivers yesterday with the hope he would clear and play on their AHL affiliate, but the Flames decided to claim the 26 year old forward.
Zohorna is a 26 year old 6 foot 6 winger who played in 17 regular season games in the 2021-2022 season with Pittsburgh, scoring 2 goals and assisting 4 for a total of 6 points. He has 10 points in 25 NHL games in his career, but still looks like a solid player that could make it in the NHL. Many thought the Penguins would give him a chance in the line-up, but took the risk of waivers, which didn’t pan out the way they wanted.

Zohorna was not drafted in the NHL, he was signed by the Penguins as a free agent from the Czech league in 2020.
Penguins coach Sullivan spoke about Zohorna, saying he “played extremely well over the course of this training camp.” which makes this a very interesting move by the Penguins.
