As the NHL season comes to a close, veteran forward David Krejci has shared his thoughts on his future plans. The 37-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Boston Bruins at the start of the season, following a stint in the Czech professional league. With a successful regular season but playoff disappointment now behind him, Krejci now faces a decision between continuing his career with the Bruins, hanging up his skates for good, or signing elsewhere.
Krejci had a solid season in Boston, scoring 16 goals and adding 40 assists for a total of 56 points in 70 games played. He played a significant role in the Bruins’ historic regular season, during which the team set new records for wins and points. In the first round of the playoffs against the Florida Panthers, Krejci appeared in four of the seven games due to injury. Nevertheless, he managed to contribute one goal and three assists for a total of four points.
The Bruins, who undoubtedly value Krejci’s experience and skill, would likely want to re-sign him for another year to bolster their chances of making a deep run for the Stanley Cup. Krejci’s decision may also be influenced by what his longtime teammate Patrice Bergeron decides to do with his own career.
Krejci has made it clear that he is considering only two options: staying with the Bruins or retiring from professional hockey. He has ruled out returning to the Czech league or signing with another NHL team. As the offseason approaches, fans and the organization alike will be closely watching to see what the future holds for this talented veteran.
Krejci say it’s Bruins or retirement. Not gonna play in the Czech League again.
