The NHL has been buzzing lately with the surprising new hairstyles of Edmonton Oilers superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. Fans have been speculating about the inspiration behind their mullets, but it turns out that the hairstyles are the result of a bet between McDavid and teammate Dylan Holloway.
According to Draisaitl, the bet was made when Holloway challenged McDavid that if the Oilers won six games in a row, McDavid would have to grow out the flow. The Oilers were successful in their winning streak, and true to his word, McDavid went ahead and grew the now popular mullet. Draisaitl also joined in and grew his own, but he said his was accentually and didn’t really plan it.

Apparently the Oilers rookie said that if they win 6 in a row, 97 had to grow the flow.
The new hairstyles have certainly been a talking point among fans and media alike, but they also show the lighthearted side of the Oilers team. The team is known for their on-ice chemistry and it’s clear that they also have a close bond off the ice, as evidenced by their high spirited bet.
"I think it looks good."
