The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that French winger Alexandre Texier will rejoin the team for the 2023-24 NHL season. The 23-year-old forward, a 2017 second-round draft pick by the Blue Jackets, spent the past season playing for the ZSC Lions in Switzerland to be closer to home due to a private family matter and mental health reasons. During his time with the ZSC Lions, Texier appeared in 46 games, netting 13 goals and contributing 22 assists for a total of 35 points. In the playoffs, he added 2 goals and 3 assists, totaling 5 points in 9 games. Texier’s NHL career thus far consists of 123 games, during which he scored 22 goals and tallied 27 assists for a combined 49 points.

While fans were undoubtedly supportive of Texier’s decision to spend time near home and with his family during a difficult period, they will be excited to see him return to the Blue Jackets roster next season. Texier has shown his potential as a solid player and still has ample room to develop his game further.
The Blue Jackets finished last in the Eastern Conference, securing a high draft pick in the upcoming NHL draft.
